MSPRC announcement regarding The Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal (MSPRP)
The MSPRC has announced the implementation of the Medicare Secondary Payer Recovery Portal (MSPRP). The MSPRP is a web-based tool which will allow users (insurers, attorneys, beneficiaries, TPAs and agents) to obtain and submit certain information online. Specifically, users are able to perform the following tasks electronically:
Submit Proof of Representation (POR) and Consent to Release (CTR) documentation.
Request a copy of the current conditional payment letter.
Request updated conditional payment amounts.
Dispute unrelated claims and submit supporting documentation.
Provide settlement information and submit supporting documentation.
To perform these tasks on the MSPRP, users must have the beneficiary’s name, date of birth and Health Insurance Claim Number (HICN) or social security number along with the CMS-assigned recovery case identification number.
All parties, except Medicare beneficiaries, must register for a Web Portal account. Users of the Section 111 Mandatory Insurer Reporting Coordination of Benefits Secure Web Site (COBSW) and Workers’ Compensation Medicare Set-Aside Portal (WCMSAP) must use the same Login ID and Password to access the MSPRP site. Medicare beneficiaries will be able to access the MSPRP through the My MSP pages of the http://www.mymedicare.gov website.
Computer-Based Training (CBT) modules and detailed instructions for registering for an account and utilizing the MSPRP are available on the MSPRC website.
The MSPRC has indicated that MSPRP will not only assist with the resolution of Liability, No Fault and Workers’ Compensation Medicare recovery cases but will also accelerate the process.
