Finally, a new Workers’ Compensation Review Contractor (WCRC) award has been issued.  This news comes after several months of work being completed by Provider Resources, the incumbent contractor, under an expired contract.  The new WCRC contract was awarded on September 1, 2017 to Capitol Bridge, LLC of Arlington, Virginia, a certified small business entity.  Capitol Bridge’s primary line of business is consulting services on a contract or fee basis, with extensive experience in claims management.  Interestingly, the contract award dollar amount is listed as $60,759,236, which is an increase from when Provider Resources was awarded the contract in 2011.  The increased award amount may be due to CMS’ expectations of an increase in the volume of Medicare Set-Aside (MSA) submissions, including the review of liability MSAs (LMSAs), despite the voluntary nature of the CMS review program.  With the newly issued reference guide, updated CMS guidance, and possible review of LMSAs on the horizon, we look forward to working with Capitol Bridge as the MSA review process continues to evolve.

We will continue to update you on any news as related to this transition.
